It’s been a while and I’m sure you are all anxious for updates about what the Office of Teaching and Learning is working on. Hopefully, you all attended the most recent webinar and got to meet our new videographer, Rebecca Powell. If not, I’m sure you’ll start to see more examples of her work soon. She has already helped CDL develop some drone footage of important diesel maneuvers and she is working on several other projects.
Keep an eye out for our next newsletter as well as upcoming updates to our OTL page.

Simple Syllabus
For you Program Leads/Coordinators and Directors working on updating your syllabi, be on the lookout for an announcement when we create the new Terms. This is a new copy of all our syllabi for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. When we make this copy you’ll want to make sure the syllabi you are working on is for the correct Term. It should be happening in the next week or two, but we’ll make sure and let you know.
Bridge Checkpoints
Checkpoints for submitting your yearly Professional Development hours as well as submitting your Industry Contact forms have been created in Bridge. You should see them showing up on your dashboard soon if you are required to submit.
Canvas Tip
Did you know that you can message groups of students directly from the Canvas Gradebook? First, it’s always a good idea to make sure students have set up their notifications in Canvas and that they check their MTECH email daily.
Once that’s taken care of, anytime you have a group of students for a specific assignment that need some kind of update or reminder just head to the Gradebook and click the three dots next to the assignment name. This will open up a menu with the option “Message Students Who.” Once you click that option you will get a window where you can compose your message as well as options for who to send it to.
Have a group of students who forgot to submit? This is a quick way to send out a reminder. Need to remind students that got a low score that they have time to try again, send a message to those who “Scored less than” a specific score.
This can be a helpful tool to quickly alert your students and keep them all on task.
